I have now tried a couple of cases on my 14 pro max. My fist case was a Tech21 EvoMax monster of a case with a door over the cameras. It was a very sturdy case that was super heavy. I returned that pretty quickly. I am now using an apple silicone case that I am just not really impressed with. I like that it has microfiber lining but being silicone, it’s a dust magnet. It already is starting to look worn and I have only had it for a few days. Are there any good lightweight cases out there? Microfiber lining is a plus. I am trying to go light because the phone is already bulky enough.

my vote goes to pitaka mag ez 3 case super thin and aramid fiber so fairly durable.

How would you define “at least a little bit protective”? The Pitaka, being aramid fiber, is protective but is deliberately minimalist and does not cover either the top or bottom of the phone, nor the side buttons.

The Veil does cover the top and bottom but is so thin that even the Caudabe website cautions that it protects only against scratches and scuffs, not drops.

I’d suggest the Caudabe Sheath or Synthesis. Both are thinner cases that offer drop protection. No microfiber lining though. The Pitaka MagEZ Pro also offers full coverage while being very thin but IIRC also doesn’t have microfiber lining and is also expensive.

I'm more concerned with scratches than drops. Though now that I've said that, I'm sure I'll drop my phone in like the next fifteen minutes. :D

In that case the Veil is indeed a good option! Or one of the Pitaka cases as the aramid fiber makes for a great combo of thin, light, and protective.

Folks that have the Veil (or similar super thin cases), how is the magnetic strength for Magsafe accessories? Is it enough for Magsafe grips/wallets without worrying about detaching?

There’s no Magsafe on the veil (right)

I have three cases at the moment for my 14 Pro.

Apple Leather - Best for grip, good drop protection, good height front lip. Thickest of them all.

Pitaka MagEz 3 (600D) - OK grip, very solid and feels thin, excellent MagSafe strength, won’t offer much drop protection but OK for day to day knocks and scratches.

Torras ultra thin - Thinnest of them all, absolutely no drop protection but complete coverage for scratches and dings. No MagSafe compatibility.

I’ve stuck with the Pitaka as the best all round option. I’m fairly cautious so the minimal drop protection should be enough, but the thin and solid feeling and MagSafe strength make it a winner.
