Any recommendations for a thunderbolt connecting hub with at least 4 USB 2 ports (or USB 3 if there's no downside)?

Supporting full data rates and stability are important. Use would be for connecting multiple USB devices like MIDI instruments and controllers for use with audio apps. This gets into requiring the spec'd performance from USB, so the cheapo hubs for connecting an extra mouse or keyboard aren't going to make the cut.

Are there genuinely more robust hubs like this sold? Which ones?

Thanks!

Forget Thunderbolt 2 or Thunderbolt 1 docks. Get a Thunderbolt 3 dock and connect it with an Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter.

You are limited by 10 Gbps Thunderbolt 1 speeds but that's near USB 3.1 gen 2 speeds.

Can you suggest an adapter with male thunderbolt 2 plug in one side and female thunderbolt 3 plug on other side?
The Apple adapter you mentioned has the opposite plugs and cannot be used with macbook pro 2011

All Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 Adapters have female Thunderbolt 2 plug and male Thunderbolt 3 plug.

To make a male Thunderbolt 2 plug, add a Thunderbolt 2 cable to the adapter.

You don't need a female Thunderbolt 3 plug - just connect the male Thunderbolt 3 plug of the adapter to the Thunderbolt 3 dock.

Any Thunderbolt 3 device with two Thunderbolt 3 ports (such as the dock) gives you a free female Thunderbolt 3 plug which you can use to connect any Thunderbolt 3 device (even those that have a non-detachable male only Thunderbolt 3 cable).

Have you tried for transferring data? If it works with all scenarios (eg firewire, ethernet, vga, etc) it looks very tempting, considering that thunderbolt 1 and 2 docks are vanishing

I have used Thunderbolt 2 docks with Thunderbolt 3 computers and Thunderbolt 3 docks with Thunderbolt 2 computers. I have also used Thunderbolt 1 devices. No unexpected problems.

Hi, Did you have any success finding a Thunderbolt hub which worked for you? And if so what did you use? I have MacBook Pro late 2011 with High Sierra 10.13.6. The two USB 2 ports which are becoming unstable. My Thunderbolt port has never been used, so I'm thinking a compatible Thunderbolt hub might solve problems with audio/midi transfer and also accommodate a higher spec audio/midi interface. Any suggestions and help would be appreciated.
