What is the best time from now until December 23, 2011 to buy a DSLR? Either the Nikon D3100 or the Canon T3?

it's a good time, go Canon, I used to be a Nikon guy but Nikon is Windows and Canon is mac, anybody saying otherwise owns a lot of Nikon glass.

You might have some good luck on Cyber Monday (this upcoming Monday). Also, Amazon sometimes puts DSLRs on their goldbox deals, so check on those every so often.

My Nikon d5000 plays well with my MBP running Lion.

I got a Rebel T2i w/ lens kit, etc, and an 8GB SD card for $599 Canadian, hell of a steal IMO. This was part of Black Friday weekend up here at Sears. I wasn't really interested in investing in a DSLR just yet but couldn't help but bite.
