For people who have sold iPhones in past years around launch time, will the value of the iP4 decrease as soon as the iP5 is released, or will there be a window of time where the iP4 retains it's value?

Would it be best to sell now and go iPhoneless for a month?

If you have a backup phone and can get by for the next month I would say sell now for best return.

The sooner, the better. The general public (or at least most non-techy people I talk to) have absolutely no idea when the next iPhone is coming out, and have not heard anything about it. Once the public hears about the iPhone 5, they will not be interested in buying the iPhone 4 for as much as it's actually worth.

Yesterday.

But really, sell it asap for the highest possible price. God forbid somehow the iPhone 5 is leaked, you'll barely get anything for your iPhone 4.

Exactly. For this reason, sell it ASAP.

Now!

If you have another phone just to use for a month or so that's definitely the best option by far.

but in all honestly you will be lucky to get about half of what you paid for it. I bought the 32GB iPod Touch 4, and about 3 months later could barely get $150 for it, and I bought it two days after it came out. Now that iPhone 4 has been out for over a year you will probably only get around 200-300 for it maybe.

Iphone 4 market prices on craigslist are currentl
$325-400 for 16gb depending on the condition and warranty status

For 32gb they run from $400-500 depending on condition

So the time to sell is now if you have access to another phone u can live with for another month.

Yeah it's about the same here.

In my city you're guaranteed $400 for a 16GB and $450 for a 32GB, providing that both are in good condition.

No one really cares about warranty here as I live in New Brunswick (Eastern Canada) and the nearest Apple store is a 14 hour drive to Montreal. :D
