Hey All,
My old tripod broke last week, and i need a new one, but i know nothing about them, prefereably one with smooth panning and doesnt feel like its a rusty old water pump would be good.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Yep, if you have a low budget you can't beat a Hama tripod. I have four tripods which are mostly big heavy things for the studio. However on recommendation I bought a Hama Traveller Compact Pro for a trip to China. It is tough, works well and an absolute bargain. I am happy chucking it in a suitcase and not having to worry about a precious piece of carbon fibre getting broken!
It folds up pretty small but extends to a good height (unlike most cheap/compact tripods) and it will happily take the weight of a heavy camera and lens. I won't tell you it is better made than a £500 tripod but it is certainly a steal at this price.

I have one too...Great value for money...I was expecting cheap C*** TBH, but it really is useable.
What would you recommend as a North American equivalent?
I went for cheap and sturdy with the manfrotto 55xproB..

Its around £100.00 and you will need a seprate head, but it will last..Its not lightweight, but its certainly sturdy...(if the bombs ever fall all that will be left will be cockroaches and 055xprob's!!)
