Best TV for Mac as external display?

I'm going to Cardiff University in September and would like a TV in my room to, er, watch TV. I would also like to plug an Xbox or similar into that TV. And then my mac on top of that.

TV should preferably therefore be HD. Whats the best one for this?

The alternative is I don't have a TV and just get a 24 inch display for my MBP.

There is no "best" TV for that purpose. Just get one that has at least two HDMI inputs. Then connect your Xbox to one, and your MBP to the other using a Mini Displayport to HDMI cable.
