best upgrades to get first

hey guys im buying the current base model mac pro and i need some ideas of what to upgrade first. the gpu should be fine for now and i plan on waiting to get the 5870 or whatever the new card is when they release it. what i was thinking of doing was getting an ssd and an adapter tray and using a small ssd as my boot drive and the using an sata hdd and external drives for storage. i also plan on buying 2 4gb ram sticks and using 2 1gb sticks as well to get 10gb. let me know if you have any suggestions on what to buy since this is my first mac

You already said it, SSD and RAM is way to go.

ok thanks! now i plan on buying the computer now and getting the ram and ssd for xmas. i plan on using the ssd as a boot drive so would i need to have the ssd in the computer when i power it up for the first time as the main drive or could i just put the ssd in a month from now and then set it up as a boot drive?

You can do the SSD anytime and clone the system on it.
