I am looking for advice on the best USB WiFi adapters for Mac. I will mention several different goals or use cases I have. I am NOT looking for one adapter to excel in all scenarios, but instead separate recommendations to address each of the goals, as I might want to own several for different purposes. However, all suggestions should be for ones that work with recent OS versions such as Mojave or Catalina.

1) Scenario 1: USB dongle with unusually good WiFi range wanted to pick up access point that is not particularly close. Possibly with external or removable antenna.

2) Scenario 2: Small USB dongle wanted that is compatible with Mac and windows that can be used to allow a virtual machine in parallels or VMWare to connect to a different network than the host operating system is using with built in Airport. This adapter should be fairly fast when near the access point and should support both 2 and 5ghz.

3) Scenario 3: Any USB adapters that support the new WiFi 6 standard.

When recommending an adapter please state which scenario it is good for and why you like it.

Thanks

I recommend checking out insanelymac.com
