Any advice?
I want to transfer 30 sony handycam movies (both 8mm and Hi8 tapes) into a digital format so i can save them and easily play them back in the future. I imported a 120 min 8mm tape into iMovie, the DV file was 27 GB, wow! I have quicktime pro and wonder what the best file format would be other than DV, while preserving video quality, is it standard quicktime, mp4? Help?

The best thing to do is keep them in DV. Converting them into an MP4, for example, to shrink the file size will just reduce quality and make it for difficult to work w/the footage in future.

so is quicktime movie a good compromise over mp4? I just converted my 28 GB DV file to QT file at only 8 GB.........quality is still decent.........
