Hi all,

I know this is not the way to get the best in either category, but what is the best compact camera at taking video? Anything stand out?

I want this to be small enough to be with my wife at all times. For top quality, we have dslr and are waiting for the right HD camcorder.

Cheers and thanks,

p.s. I have posted this in the video section as well.

Canon's S2 IS and S3 IS have excellent video quality. BIG files, but great videos :) Zooming while taking the video is a plus, IS works while taking the video and I think they have a feature where they can take a picture while recording a clip.

EDIT: See this review of the camera, with a video sample

I picked up a Panasonic/Lumix FX01S this summer for this reason. It supports 16:9 movies in 852x480 @ 30 fps which look really nice on a large LCD TV. If you're not looking for something quite that compact, I'm sure the other Lumix cameras have similar results.
