Hi, I'm wondering which freeware (if possible) vocal remover program would work best for a specific song I'm trying to work with. I need to remove the vocal audio for When The Sun Sleeps by Underoath for a school project, but nothing that I've tried (Audacity and YoGen) have worked to my satisfaction.

Basically, it all sounds like a tin can in some parts, and the clean vocals are not removed at all, while the screams are only faintly heard.

As has been noted before in this forum, it's impossible to reliably remove vocals from a stereo recording without altering the backing track significantly.

Some tracks will be more successful, but anything else in the center of the image is going to be affected as well, even with the frequency-sensitive phase reverse techniques.

You'd do better looking for a MIDI file or getting a couple of talented musos to cover it.
