Best way to back up phone?

Hey there

Unfortunately it's not as easy to manage/ back up an Android phone as with Apple iPhone & iTunes.

What's the best way to back up the phone/ settings/ apps? Kies? Any other? I can't seem to connect my phone ever to Kies, somehow just doesn't work. Any alternatives or any way to back up to the cloud somewhere?

Helium works pretty well for me, there is a free version with ads and a paid version without. It adds some functionality as well, I just can't remember what it is off the top of my head.
