So my first 15" MBP and cinema display are supposed to arrive today but I was wondering what is the best way to go about charging. If I have the macbook at my desk I could just leave it plugged in all the time does this cycle the battery or does it by pass it once the battery is fully charged? I want to make sure I'm not putting unnecessary cycles on the battery but I am not sure how apple has their charging scheme setup.

If you just received it; use it until the battery runs out and your computer shuts off automatically, then charge it fully. If you do leave your computer on your desk most of the time - keep draining and recharging periodically.

I think once your battery is full and plugged in, your computer runs off of the wall charger and leaves the battery alone.

Not needed. Just discharge periodically that's all, anything else is urban legend.

This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:
