I've just been using my MBP as a desktop in clamshell mode hooked up to an external monitor so now there is a good amount of dust on the surface.

What would be the best way to clean up the aluminum body & matte screen monitor?

basic microfiber cloth. Tons of solutions available to use with it, any alcohol and oil free solution will work. They're pretty much all the same. You can minimized dust by vacuuming, cleaning ceiling fans and air filters regularly

I agree. Personally I use a 100% cotton baby diaper moistened with a bit of water.

i use car detailer or watery glass cleaner with a microfibre, never had a problem
