pretty sure this isn't staingate like issue but I can't find a way to clean it. I used a microfiber cloth and also a different one slightly damp and which it just made it worse

Where can you get a 2027 MacBook Pro? Now that is something I'd like to see!;)

But, I'd try a completely fresh (brand new) microfiber cloth and gently rub starting from one corner. It's possible you have cleaner residue or oil on the cloth that might be still stuck on there. If it still stays there, try spraying a light touch of gentle eye glasses cleaner onto the cloth (ammonia free of course), and test it in one of the effected corners.

2027! Don't worry. By they it will just be a holographic projection into thin air. Macbook with be just big enough for the keyboard or optionally, voice only

I thought of that first but I was googling it and the pictures they showed was different.

Agreed. But something is off if your screen is not getting clearer. Either it is you and the technique/materials you use, or it is the screen. If you take it to the Apple Store they can try to clean it and let you know what is wrong.

That really stinks, I'd take it to Apple, they surely have a way to clean it, or tell you if its something permanently wrong with the coating.

IMO, it looks like you have a film residue of some kind on the screen that is just that stubborn. If it were the coating I'd think the if you kept rubbing it would start showing a solid "bald" spot where there wouldn't be any anti-reflective coating anymore.

I bought a used Retina MBP once (and later sold, lol) that had a residue on the coating like this and it took a lot of scrubbing to get the residue to come off.

Film Residue? It is over a year old now almost ( Bought Mid august)

Was the MF towel new? Sometime new MF towels have a fabric softener on it.

I do not think anything is wrong with your screen except the technique used cleaning it. The MF towel you used is leaving a residue for some reason.

It's possible if the screen was exposed to mist (like if you clean you desk with windex or some other spray cleaner), or if the microfiber cloth was cleaned in a washer with detergent. It may not seem like it, but even a tiny amount of the fine mist that gets spread in the area could've landed on the screen and spread when you wiped it.

But this was just my thought (from what I've seen personally). Hopefully you (or the Genius Bar) can get it off one way!

I can tell you its not my technique lol. Its not a new one which I keep with my MacBook Pro in the sleeve in a different slot

I actually don't use Windex near my laptop. If I am not using it then its in the sleeve. I usually use it on my lap as well so rarely would it be in contact with "mist" of any sort

I am not "accusing" you of anything. I am pointing out that your technique is flawed when cleaning this screen, just look at it! Is this not the first time you cleaned a 2018 MBPro screen? I would have done the same and we BOTH would have been wrong using this technique. Damp micro fiber is all I have used in the past!

OP stated that it is a 2017 MBP, but I agree that I think OP is taking our advice in the wrong way. We are just trying to help suggest that there could be a residue from the microfiber cloth or something in the environment that is being stubborn. I have seen this before personally and it is hard to remove but it may just require a brand new cloth. We are just trying to help, not accuse anyone of anything :)
