Yes, I know... the title may be weird... :)

We found some video guestbook software for the mac, and I think I'll just put my macbook pro out there, rather than try to find an iMac. Does anyone know a good way to "decorate" it so that it looks a bit more festive? Also... might want to draw some attention to it so that people see it.

A drink in an iMac keyboard is a relatively low cost replacement.

A drink in a MacBook Pro keyboard could be very costly.

Therefore, you might want to consider a raincoat for it.

Would just need to decorate the table it is resting on...adding anything to the MBP could honestly destroy the look of the entire table

Just find an external monitor and hide the MBP under the desk, in a security box and lock it against fire hazards and children throwing cake and denting your MBP.

Like it needs to be dressed up......... It may look better than the bride ........

I love the idea, but doesn't it lose some of the personality when it's typed, rather than hand written?

You are going to find that some people won't leave a video guestbook entry. I hope they plan on having a traditional guestbook for those people.

agree many people are nervous or tense up when the camera guy comes around asking people to say a message to the bride and groom, not everyone likes the lime light and prefer the traditional guest book

The MacBook Pro is THE ultimate decoration to any place. In art, perfection is achieved by removing rather than adding, and any addition to the MBP's beautiful minimal design would be blasphemy.

Yuck. An open laptop, even a MBP, screams "work" to many of us.

I'd design a box that fits with your wedding theme so that only the screen is showing; maybe even just an external monitor. Then add a keyboard and mouse externally as well if necessary. That way you don't get it all messed up, and you can go crazy gluing stuff on these peripherals to make them fit in.

I would be hesitant to leave the MBP unattended w/o any form of security measures in terms of theft and spillage prevention. Everyone tends to be super relax in weddings and don't give a care in anything else other than drinks and food. If you leave your computer lying around it might get drinks or food spilled onto it and fingerprints all over the screen.

My advice, use something else as decoration (e.g., a photo frame)

Exactly however the only picture used in the photo frame should be the one of a mbp, this way its still decorated and a mbp is present in some form as well.

Everyone tends to be very casual in parties and don't give a care in anything else other than wine and nibbles. If you keep your Mac sitting around it might get wine or nibbles dropped into it and finger prints all over the monitor.

Get one of those cheap keyboards and and external monitor... Or a hard shell case (for drops), a keyboard cover (for spills) and a screen protector (for those cake/alcohol covered fingers pointing at the screen.
