My office is building a new conference room. We want to consider the alternatives to running a physical cable between the projector and the conference table because of how ugly that mess is. It is important that the solution can transmit 1080p video without much picture degradation, and it is also important that it works with both PCs and Macs as we use both almost evenly in the office.

As far as I can tell, there are 3 main types of solutions:

1: Wireless HDMI or DVI "bridge" that takes and HDMI/DVI input into one box and outputs that signal out of another. This is one example of this kind of solution. The good part about this solution is that it should be completely irrelevant as to whether the computer is a PC or Mac.

2: USB wireless video transmitter that sends video out through a USB dongle wireless transmitter. This is an example. This is more svelte on the transmission side, but also now vulnerable to driver and compatibility issues.

3: Wifi TV adapter like this McTivia. This seems to be the smoothest solution because you just connect a box to the projector and then connect that box to your network, and then any Mac or PC could stream video to the box right over the same network no adapter dongles required. However, still vulnerable to driver compatibility issues and the question of a wireless router can really handle that HD video traffic.

What have been your experiences with these types of solutions? Are there other solutions that I haven't investigated? I know that one alternative would be to buy a Mac Mini and just use a wireless mouse and keyboard to control it remotely, but we are looking to avoid spending that much money if possible ($600 + $70 +$70 for a new Mac Mini, apple mouse, and apple keyboard).

Thanks
