I have a Music folder that is 27GB. The file structure is built with itunes (that is, this music was at one point all managed by iTunes, I just cleared my library and moved the music folder.

Im looking to re-import all these tracks into itunes, but I am not comfortable with having iTunes copy everything, then having to manually delete my original folder.

I'd much rather have itunes move the files where it wants it.

I know that i can put everything into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder, but im skeptical, as ive had previous problems with iTunes and this is how i did it.

Is there some way that i can for instance, reference my folder with all my music in it, to be the location of my library, and that when i add new music to my itunes, it is moved to this folder with the proper subfolder structure.

I think this is what im trying to do, but my question is, do i need to make an iTunes directory, then put my Music folder in there, and will iTunes move/copy new files here, or will it just create its own iTunes folder or an iTunes Media folder and move new files there?

Should i set the itunes media library location, then move my music after the iTunes folder has been created, or should I set the library location to where my main Music folder?

Is it okay to put 27GB of music at once into iTunes?
