my 16 month old iPhone 4's home button works about half the time now and though it's still usable, it's annoying. I have noticed that the battery is getting less and less, and I was thinking, doesn't apple just replace the whole phone when you go in to the store and get a new battery?

so if I found a way to abuse the battery enough that I could essentially get the phone "fixed" for the cost of a new battery?

so what's the best way to kill off my battery?

No they take the old battery out and put in a new one. You can pay $200 to have the phone switched out of warranty or try to see if you get a nice genius which will give a one time free replacement.

That's ethical. Abuse the system so you get a new phone. Probably best not to post questionable plans on a public forum.

I don't know why posts like this get negative points. The cost of the phone take into account warranty repair/replacement costs and people that work the system increase the price for the rest of us. Or maybe I'm making things up.

9mm will get the job done

Being "ethical" doesn't get you anywhere. Gotta play the game for all its worth. You go and ride your ethics, won't get you anything. It's a big bad world out there so come join the big boys

Ah, that's the kind of attitude that gives me hope for the future and faith in mankind.

if that's the case, then I guess I'll just suck it up and pay $200 to get the entire phone replaced...
