I'm trying to make some voice synthesized .wav files for fun. Is there a way to do this in garage band? or how should I do this? (ie alex or whoever)
 
You can use Automator to help you with this, for instance:

Add the option "Ask for Text", and drag below it "Text to Audio File" (both of these are in the Text section in Automator's Library).

This will make an .aiff file for you, which you could then convert to .wav if you want. :)
 
Could use Audacity

You might want to download audacity. It can record the output of your mac to just about any format (extra libraries required).

You would then use the speech text to speech capability of MacOSX - see system preference speech...
