I am getting the wife a mac mini but I don't have room to have the g4 and the mini both setup close to each other. can it be done over the network? or can I take the hard driver with time machine and her itunes music on it pop it into an external enclosure and get the info off of that?

Hello.
I have never done it that way..but you should be able to do it.
This is from the apple website
Migration with style.
If you’re setting up a new Mac with files from an old Mac, Time Machine can help simplify the process. Just use Migration Assistant to copy portions of any Time Machine backup to a new Mac, or select “Restore System from Time Machine” in the Utilities menu on your Mac OS X install disc. Choose any date recorded in Time Machine to set up your new Mac exactly as your previous Mac was on that date.

There is also an article here about migrating from PPC to intel.

You should be able to do it over a network but it might take a while if it is all wireless. The hard drive in a case idea will probably be a lot quicker.
Good luck!
