iPhone 12 Best way to pre order new iPhone Mini

I have never pre-ordered an iPhone before and wanted to know how the process is when pre ordering through the apple store app. I am currently on verizon with a paid off iPhone that I am not trading in. I do not have a apple credit card and plan to use a payment plan. If I choose the verizon payment plan in the settings, what happens next? Does it prompt you to sign into Verizon?

If you go thru Apple.com, you will choose the carrier and enter your VZW phone number.
You can choose to pay for the phone in full or apply for a 24 month Citizen's One Loan or 24 month Apple Card application. (both Citizen & Apple Card will do a hard credit pull).

However, if you go thru your carrier: VZW, you can choose their EIP for 30 months....
