You should be able to reserve it at the nearest Apple Store through the online system. This was an option last year, and those who are upgrading through the iPhone Upgrade program are being directed to reserve one at their local Apple Store. So you can try that.

In the meantime, I would try to figure out how packages are delivered to your campus address since sooner or later you will want to have something sent there...
 
I reserved something last year, cant remember what, but it was a launch day device.
Not sure where you are, but in the UK, I picked a timeslot (4:30pm - after work), got the email confirmation saying reserved.
Went at 4:30, was in and out in 10 minutes and they had sold out waaay before I got there).
