Should I use itunes to restore or can I do it through the general settings on my iphone 4S?
Thanks.

Restore it through iTunes. When iTunes says "Leave the iPhone connected it is restarting". Disconnect it. When the iPhone is done starting up, it will be at iOS 5's setup screen. Press the sleep button, then the red slider to turn it off. At this point, send it off to the next person.

Thanks for the help, I'll just use the general settings.
I was just making sure that it doesn't leave any traces of info the new owner may pick up.

Looks good, have the opportunity to try the next.

Any way works the same. I would rather do it straight from the iPhone because I don't have to take the time to plug it into my computer and open up iTunes... blah blah blah.

When restoring make sure you turn imessage off. Many people have had issues when restoring where it still saves your imessage account.

I must have missed something... Why would you do a restore before selling your phone. Should you just backup your phone to iTune then wipe the phone clean before selling it?
