My neighbor wants an iMac mostly for family photos, email and web surfing, maybe iMovie...

She looks to me for Mac advice, but I don't know this one. I talked her out of her troublesome Windows notebook and into an iMac.

As always, her $$$ is tight. Mac Mini is not an option.

Can she get an education discount (she qualifies as a teacher) on a refurb?

OR

If the new iMacs come out in the next few weeks as rumored, the price should drop on the older ones. What is the traditional discount on the older models after the update?

If the price drops, can she get an education discount on that discounted one as well?

OR

When the new model MBPs were released a couple of weeks ago, I know the store was offering (IF it was within the 14 day return window) to exchange the old one with the new one or give a substantial discount/refund to the people who wanted to keep the old one. Is this in addition to the education discount as well?

Sorry if I sound cheap, I just want to help her get the best deal. Also, if I can convert her to a Mac, I don't have to work on her POS Windows PC anymore.
