Best way to store Macbook?

I don't use my Macbook very ofter. I turn it on maybe once every month or two. What is the best way to store it:

on the charger but shut down
off the charger, shut down
with the battery fully charged but removed from the laptop.

You can also take a look at your MacBook user guide (the little book), if you've still got it. It tells you in there as well.

Leave it unplugged.

I'd jsut leave it unplugged to preserve the battery
