When I take pictures on my iPhone of basic things to remember - pictures of my drivers license, or passport, the images are huge - several megabytes and are like 3k pixels wide. I know I can use preview to resize the image down manually but Id like some other way, ideally either through the services menu (automator) or a drag and drop solution to resize my pictures. Ideally Id actually like to set a target size, like 500kb, and then have the app or process figure out the rest. Anybody now how to do that best?

Oh I figured it out! Automator - *scale image* and then convert to Jpeg. Yay.

There are dozens of apps to do this, but you've found (and used successfully) the free one that's already on your computer and is probably the most flexible of the bunch. Congrats!

Any reason why Finder keeps asking if it can access the folder (Catalina-style access) Im converting from? Should I add Finder to Full disk access in security prefs? Weirdest question ive ever asked.
