Best way to transfer Contacts and email

I just bought a mack book and need to transfer email and contacts from Outlook. I can not use exchange server so what is the best way to do this?
So that it all matches correctly

Shaun,

There is a great guide here on MacRumors about this. I have used one of the apps that is recommended, Outlook2Mac, with good success. It, IMO, is very much worth the $10 shareware fee.
