I have a troublesome i5 iMac from 2010 that Apple decided to replace for me. I currently have my iTunes library living on an external drive, along with most of my other media. I'm running a MyBook Studio Edition II that's handling all my MacBook Pro and iMac backups.
Obviously I know I can easily transfer files and documents to the new iMac while setting it up, but what's the easiest way to get iTunes to reconcile the library living on the external drive, without running into any issues.
Also, would it simply be smarter/less messy to run the i5 in target disk mode and transfer what I wanted to the new machine?
Thanks!
