Hopefully not a dumb qustion, but I just got a new iPad this past weekend. I'm seeing a lot of different ways people are updating to 4.2. Can I just do the normal update process or is it cleaner to do a fresh install? (and lose the couple of bookmarks, game scores, etc from only a couple of days of use)

Thanks in advance.

just update using the update button on itunes, if things seem slow or unreliable after a while use the restore button instead to have a fresh install. i updated mine to 4.2 and so far haven't come across any problems.

Edit: the only thing you'll lose doing a restore is any music/videos/photos you've got on there and any saved data such as game progress etc.

I'm interested in this too.

I've just updated to 4.2 but all my apps are on there still so I'm guessing its not a clean install? The thing is I only got the iPad 2 weeks ago so nothing on there is important and I haven't got many apps anyway + they are all free.

I'd rather do a clean install of 4.2 just to be sure.
