I see no option for pre-ordering but also setting up a new carrier through Apple pre-order and also get Apple to port my cell number from old carrier/old phone to new carrier new phone.

Is this too complicated for pre-order or do I need to be patient and go to Verizon after the dust clears and just set up new service that way? I am switching from AT&T to Verizon solely because I cannot use my AT&T phone in my building - poor signal penetration compared to Verizon and I am tired of the one bar strength on the signal.

I'm interested in doing this too (except the opposite way...Verizon --> AT&T). I have a paid off X currently on Verizon, and am wondering the best way to preorder, switch carriers, and port my current cell number.

Pre order through Verizon, either online, over the phone or in store. They will start your port process but it will not complete until you get your new device and go through their activation process.
