I've had my MB for just under a year now, and it was intended for a summer trip to CERN only, but it stuck around longer. I really need something like a 15" MBP for my uses, gaming, computation, etc. I'm very mobile so I'm almost never home to use my gaming/computation machine, but I need something with me that will allow me to do the same tasks. So I'm already convinced I need a MBP, I don't want the 17, I checked it out at the store and didn't like the small icons/fonts, so I'm going to get a 15.
So anyway, what is the best way to upgrade? Is it selling the MB privately? How much should I sell for? Should I trade in instead (I've been quoted ~$700)? The MB works fine, outer case needs cleaning, which I'm going to do, but that's normal. I had it serviced for non-booting in November, and the battery was swapped out at that time to, so it's almost new. I want to do this before the warranty on my MB runs out so I don't have to buy Applecare and leave that up to the next owner. So I have to do this soon.
As for the MBP15 purchase, I'm probably going to get it from a Best Buy with my student discount (have done it before). Will more than likely get the base model MBP because I do want to upgrade to a 17 sometime in the next year once Mobile Nehalem is released. So there is no need to future proof.
