Best Way to Upgrade to New 27" iMac

Just curious what the recommended way would be to upgrade my old 24" iMac to the new 27" iMac.

I have an existing full Time Machine backup of my 24" iMac. I can also do a Firewire connection, etc.

I've heard people talk about not transferring your stuff directly over, doing a clean install, etc.

So, what is the best way to move your stuff over and maintain the integrity of the OS?
