Best way to use iPad as screen for Mac?

Does anyone know what the best way is to use your iPad as the only screen of your Mac?

I know there's Sidecar, but it needs the Mac's display to activate the iPad as a display. So you need another display first.

I want to take my Mac Mini with me and use my iPad as the only display that will be available there.

It "Can" be done - but a simple display is way cheaper than an iPad so I don't see the point of it.

Connect the iPad directly to the Mac Mini. It is very Easy to do. I did it (a few times) when I had my 2020 iPad Pro.
