Other than going through iTunes manually, are there any other ways of updating iTunes metadata?

I want to make sure all my music has the right genre, year, artist etc etc.

Are there any free ways to automatically do this? Or perhaps you can export a list into excel, update it, and then reimport back into iTunes?

You can make mass changes in iTunes. It depends on exactly what you're trying to do.

Doug's AppleScripts for iTunes is a great resource for managing your iTunes tags and files.

Here are a few scripts that I've found particularly useful:

I've been reading about various third-party tools that claim they can do this with accuracy. Examples include TuneUp, Rinse, Tagalicious, among others. It appears everyone's experience with each is different, with some claiming that it's messing their collection up while others are swearing by it. For someone who has the correct artist and song name on probably 99% of their songs, but looking for album art, year, correct album, etc., what would be the best tool to use?

Thanks!
