Hey all,
What is the best, most legit, website to trade in old cell phones, including iPhones? Thanks for any help!

I've got an old first gen iPhone. I didn't think it had any value other than as an iPod at this time. I mean it still works as a phone, but man is it slow. I'll be watching this thread.

I've used CellTradeIn.com for several phones. Free shipping and option of either check or Paypal payments. They're responsive to questions, too. Based in Chicago.

Instead of trading it in on amazon, i'd post it for sale. I sold my android phone for twice what the trade in allowance was and it sold in about 30 minutes. I posted my wifes android which actually got 3x the trade in allowance and it sold in 2 days. Both times i made sure to include extras others were not including (i.e. memory card, cables, manuals, etc) and offered expedited shipping. In both cases i was very happy with the end result, much more so than trading in my old games which i had done a few weeks prior. Some games i shipped in perfect condition, in fact one game i never even opened the box and they were returned for one reason or another.

I'm a console gamer as well as an iPhone user... Gamestop actually gives a decent amount of cash (or 20% more store credit than the cash amount) for iPhone/iPad/iPod trade-ins (yes, they do iOS device trade-ins). You might not get as much as posting on eBay, but it would be a sure thing.

It really depends on what you're looking for. Highest payout, fastest turnaround, convenience, etc.

I would start by running a search on a used phone aggregator website like www.sellcell.com or www.usell.com. That'll give you a good idea of the value of your iPhone and some options. Selling it directly to a buyer is an alternative as well.

Here's an article about 5 options for selling your old phone..

I hope that helps. Good luck!

A little time and effort on eBay or Craigslist will usually get you far more money than a trade in site or store.

Agreed! The convenience of using a site like Gazelle or Apple's PowerOn buy-back program will cost you typically 40-50% of the value of your phone..

They offer a fair amount of cash if the phone is in good condition.

If you’re looking forward to resale your old cell phone without any hassle, there‘re quite a few online websites that offer decent prices. Based on my personal opinion, these are the amazing websites to trade in old cell phones and iPhones:

Gazelle: It is a trustworthy website to sell your smartphones or iPhones. Their experts inspect your device to provide an accurate payment amount. Even, you get a $5 bonus on your first Trade-In! To sell your cell phone, start by answering a few questions about your cell phone, and they let you know how much it’s worth.

Recell Cellular: It is the premier website on the Internet to trade-in your cell phones. They have the highest reputation in the online market. Real-time tracking, User-friendly Graphical User Interface, A+ rating by BBB, and faster payment methods via PayPal and Western Union are the best specs of this website.

Swappa: Swappa is a fast and reliable way to sell old mobile phones. It is a well-established and famous tech refurbishing company that buys mobile phones and give cash based upon the phone’s condition. Every product has listing requirements and an approval process to guarantee a trusted deal.

Thanks for the info... however no one had sought information in this thread for 7 years before posting your comment. Check the post dates and avoid bumping threads unless you're introducing new information to the discussion that can't really be found elsewhere.

I was offered $5. for my iPhone 4 and upon inspection was then offered $3.00 because it had a hairline scratch (not a crack- just a scratch that was impossible to see unless you tilted the front just so under a bright light). It cost $3.55 to mail the iPhone so I actually lost money.
