Hey guys,

I just picked up a Wii yesterday, and I am now looking for some good games. Any really good ones that I should pick up?

Galaxy. The most perfect game on DVD (alongside the Zelda Collectors edition :D)
Excite Truck is great fun. Still play this too, just be sure to put your own music on the memory card.
Zelda is big and triumphant and all that.
Metroid Prime 3 is quite good, not my cup of tea but a lot of people here seem to like it.
Metal Slug Anthology for a visually beautiful shooter. Great co-op too.

Okay, thanks for the fast responses, im also looking for some good mario games, maybe a mario racer :p

My xbox takes care of all the shooters.

mario kart comes out next year (early, i think). if you want something now, you can still pick up a gamecube copy somewhere and play that. or, you can find mario kart 64 on virtual console. aside from that, i have to agree with super mario galaxy. it's immensely fun, much more so than i thought it would be.

Here's a list for you. The * indicates I don't own it but know people who have and it comes highly recommended.

Firstly, you should buy Wii Play. It's $50, but it includes a Wii remote ($40 on its own) so it's basically a $10 game.

If you like Adventure games:
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Metroid Prime 3
*Zack and Wiki

If you like First Person Shooters:
Metroid Prime 3
*Medal of Honor: Heroes 2

If you are a human being:
Super Mario Galaxy. Everyone should own it.

If you like Multiplayer:
Wii Play
Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 (not fun alone, amazing with friends)
Super Mario Strikers (best online game on Wii, has co-op)

If you like sports:
Super Mario Strikers
Madden (duh)

If you like racing:
Excite Truck
Mario Kart will be out early next year

note that excite truck is arcadey, not a simulator like Gran Turismo.

Oh yea, another vote for Strikers here. I've put so much time into that game. Barrels of fun.

My xbox takes care of all the shooters.

Once you get your Wiimote setup properly, if it's needed, you'll NEVER want to touch another thumb-stick for aiming/pointing again. :) GFLPraxis put it best in another thread -- if I recall properly, where as he equated playing a FPS on a thumb-stick was like walking through mud when compared to using the Wiimote for a game like Metroid.

My favorite games so far to be redundant of others, have been:
Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition. -- The controls make this already great game better on so many levels! This game is pure simple fun!
Metroid Prime 3 -- Just need to give it a chance and it's a really good game.
Zelda TP -- Ahhh, great game!

These games I really enjoy:
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Paper Mario
Medal of Honor 2 -- Avoid the first one like the plague, but this one is typical FPS fun!
Zack & Wiki

I also own:
WiiPlay
BWii -- Just got it and haven't played it enough to know how I'll like it.
Super Monkey Ball -- Complicated controls at first, but once you understand them it's fun.
Mario Party 8 -- These games are always fun with "any" friend, I'm just waiting for a true Wii version that's as good as version 4.
Fire Emblem -- I'm sure I'll like this game, but I'm more than a bit disappointed that it's a Cube port that doesn't even use the Wiimote for pointing. Shame on Nintendo, since it's their own strategy game!

Legend of Zelda and Mario Galaxy. You pretty much can't lose with anything that features any of Nintendo's trademarked characters, though. I got the Wii for the exclusives and because I already had an XBox 360 for the hardcore stuff so I wasn't going to buy a PS3 which had very few exclusives and the games didn't look different enough from the 360 versions to justify spending the money. I also have Medal of Honor Vanguard, Blazing Angels and Prince of Persia because I got an excellent deal on them, unfortunately the store I went to was having a huge inventory clearance on Wii games and all the best stuff was already taken so I took what I could get.

Those of you that have Medal of Honor Heros 2, how are you liking it? I watched a video or two of the actual gestures you use and it looks pretty cool.

Medal of Honor is no GOTY but is a lot of fun. I haven't played the multi player yet so maybe that makes it better...but it's fine as a solo game at least for now. Only complaints are that it feels like a Xbox or PS2 shooter...meaning not near the immersion as say GeOW with the running and cover. Also the AI is horrible...I mean really horrible. But mostly with teammates so you get to be a one man show :)
