Hey,

I have a MacBook 2015 with a rather sad 128GB and looking at increasing that. Is there a "best practices" way of working with a USB drive? ideally, want to carry as many of my files as possible around on the USB driver but want to make sure that I am always working as smart as possible.

anyone got any suggestions or is it just a case of plugging it in when you want to do something?

Cheers

Scott

Keep the OS (of course!), apps, and accounts on the internal drive, as they are there now.

Use the external drive for "seldom-accessed" stuff, or large files that would normally clog up the internal drive.
An example might be videos and movies that you watch only once, or occasionally.

And make sure to unmount the external drive properly before disconnecting it.

Final thought:
If you keep anything important on the external, you'll need a SECOND EXTERNAL drive to serve as a "secondary backup".
One copy isn't enough!
