Looking for recommendations on the best workout app. Accuracy is the primary feature. I took an outside walk on Saturday and it said I burned 747 calories over 4 miles, which doesn’t seem right. Any other suggestions? Nike app? Run

All apps use the same data to display calories, position, distance ...
So accuracy is always the same.
For running, the apple builtin app is good, if you want more features and you are not affraid by all the settings, Workoutdoors is a must have

I just downloaded Workoutdoors. That app looks complicated.

There are a lot of features, you can't avoid complexity...
If you want a simple app, it's not this one.

Fitiv is my recommendation, spoken feedback for HR, distance, speed, whatever you want. And GPS configurable for the different workouts. On the bad side, they increased the yearly fee significantly for new users.

The built-in workout app is usually one of the more conservative when it comes to calorie calculations. When I try other apps for my runs, I invariably get higher calorie estimates. For me, the Workout app estimates around 107+/3 active calories per flat mile run (obviously more if I'm running hills). Cycling calories are also reasonable using the Workout app. (For me, Strava generates higher calorie estimates for running and absurd calorie estimates for cycling.) I don't do walking workouts, but I assume the active calories burned estimate would be lower than running.

Thoughts on the Nike app?

Thoughts on the Nike app?
I've never used the Nike app. Sorry.

The only other workout app that I actively use--except for the ErgData app for my Concept2 rower--is Intervals Pro. I use it for--as you would expect--running workouts with intervals. It has produced active calorie estimates very close to what I would expect from the default Workout app.

For what it's worth, the rowing workout in the Workout app produces much lower calorie estimates (based solely on HR and time) compared to Concept2's estimates based on the actual feedback from the machine. Given the superior data, I choose to rely on Concept2's estimates.

The most accurate will be the built in workout app. No one else has spent the money ensuring the cal count is accurate. However there are apps that have a lot more features

The Nike app is garbage. It doesn't always load. And when it does load, it's slow and prone to crashing midway through a workout. Don't believe all the 5-star reviews in the App Store. Instead, read the reviews that have 1 star or 2 stars, and you'll get a clear idea of just how flawed the Nike app really is.

WorkOutDoors. This is an incredible app, Accurate and reliable. Very battery friendly and above all, provides a ton of metrics and even complet integrated maps. Concerning the precision of the GPS track that WorkOutDoors generates, they are less smoothed and for me more “precise” (less smoothed) than the GPS track from the standard exercice Apple app.

Sadly is doesn’t sync with “LoseIt”.

Had a short look what "LoseIt" is. As long as it reads the data from Apple Health (website says so), you are fine with Workoutdoors as this writes the data to Apple Health.
I am using the same workflow with Myfitnesspal without a problem. No need for any 3rd party syncing tool.

I‘m using the Nike App since 1 year and I’m fine with it. I’m jogging like 3-4 times a week and the app is absolutely enough for me. No big problems so far

How far do you jog? I've found that once it hits the 10 mile mark, it is guaranteed to freeze and lose the run. But I've had it fairly regularly do the same on as few as 5 miles.

I like Cyclemeter. It's great for cycling and also tracks runs and walks. It isn't not as diverse in terms of workout types apps but it's somewhat customizable and meets my needs well. For me it has just the right amount of features without being too busy or complex.
