Anybody else having a lot of problems with the messages app in Beta 3? Any time I get a message when my phone is asleep, but messages is open, it freezes and I have to go back to the home screen.

And yes I know this is beta and it is going to be buggy. If it is just me though I am going to restore again, and if it still persists, I might go back to 2.2.1...

Holy crap, yes! 90% of the time when I get message, the app freezes and crashes back to the home screen. Very annoying.

So MMS is still sketchy, the store menu is still empty and now messages is behaving badly.

Did they make any progress or did this beta take it down a step?

well at least I am not alone, but this is going to be a LOOONG wait til Beta 4 now.

to me it's seems that beta 3 is overall faster but now there are a lot of UI bugs. Beta2 was slower but it was less buggy.

Beta 4 in 13 days :)

I've been using Messages on B3 all day and it hasn't crashed once yet. Some received when the iPhone (3G) was asleep, some while being used on safari and some with Messages directly open in both different and the open conversation...

Not one crash.

Not even a little lag? Consider yourself lucky.

Safari is quite stable now. I haven't had any lag/crashes all day. Working flawlessy as I type this.

I haven't had any problems with messages whatsoever. It's been snappy and smooth the whole time. Not one crash. This beta is much better than the last one.

When I take a picture to send an MMS, it is so much smoother now and it actually works.

Hmm I've had mms turned off. I'm on a 2G original and I updated and not restored to beta 3.

For those that have no problems: what model? Mms on? How did you install beta 3?

Thanks

I do :)

It takes a few seconds to load the messages list, but it hasn't crashed or done anything like that.

The only other thing I've noticed with Messages is that if I create a new message (not an existing conversation), the keyboard has a black background until I tap into the message field.

I restored from a backup created on B2 (which was set up as a new phone), so not an upgrade from 2.x
