With the rumoured September 12th iPhone announcement, could iOS 6 beta 4 be the final beta before the golden master? What do you all think?

Any insight as to why not?

with average of 2-3 weeks between betas there is room for one or two more betas to be released.

iOS 5 had 6 Beta's iOS 4 had 5 betas I think there is still enough bugs that the GM is at least two betas away from Beta 4

I'd expect one more Beta before the GM. If the rumours are correct, we've still got over a month to wait, so it makes sense for Apple to put out another beta, possibly the final week of August, which would be a near GM build. Just my guess though.

Based on (1) past releases, (2) about 2 weeks of developer beta cycle, and (3) September 12 as new iPhone announcement date, iOS 6 beta 4 could very well be final beta.

Excluding iOS 2, public availability of final version occurs 34 to 52 days after final developer beta. 34 and 52 days plus iOS 6 beta 4 release date are September 9 and September 27, respectively.

iOS 2:
  • Final developer beta 8: June 26, 2008
  • GM: N/A
  • Public: July 11, 2008 (15 days after last developer beta)

iOS 3:
  • Final developer beta 5: May 6, 2009
  • GM: June 8, 2009 (33 days after last developer beta)
  • Public: June 17, 2009 (42 days after last developer beta)

iOS 4:
  • Final developer beta 4: May 18, 2010
  • GM: June 7, 2010 (20 days after last developer beta)
  • Public: June 21, 2010 (34 days after last developer beta)

iOS 5:
  • Final developer beta 7: August 21, 2011
  • GM: October 4, 2011 (44 days after last developer beta)
  • Public: October 12, 2011 (52 days after last developer beta)

Having said that, my instinct tells me there may be just one more beta. But I wouldn't peg the odd any higher than 50%.

I think this is the last beta. There is usually a month between the final beta and GM. If not, then MAYBE one more beta like next week or the week after, but I'm thinking this will be the last one and GM will be out September 12th.

Usually? You didn't read that time table above your post I see.

The last few betas of 5 came pretty close together like they were getting em out to test out last few bugs.

I did. I'm talking about the final beta to the GM is usually, give or take, a month

Final beta to GM is always the longest and is *usually* close to a month. Seeing as the purported Keynote is just over a month away I'm calling beta 4 the final beta.

im still not sold on the iphone event being in sep,
maybe ipad event

i think we will see one maybe two more betas,
everything is still falling into place
and theres still bugs

dont you see the pattern. ios 4-5 betas
ios 5-6 betas
ios 6-7 betas

Their schedule doesn't work this way, boy. There's not specific amt of betas apple need to release. Besides, we better off not trying to predict what apple is going to do.

Why do people always ask this? We'll know when the GM is released. Geez like we all know.

Hi highly doubt this is the last beta. I've already run into a few bugs and unfinished areas. I would say at least one more towards the mid-end of August.

False. iOS 4 had 4 betas and a GM.
iOS 5 had 7 betas and a GM. iOS 6 has had 4 betas so far. There is no pattern and plus, that last version wouldn't influence the upcoming one.
