Anybody have an idea of how many betas there will be before 3.1 is officially released? The reason I'm asking is because my cousin wants her iPhone jailbroken but what if 3.1 is released like in two-four weeks. She would bug me to update even if it takes like 6 hours to restore and put all the data back. And I don't want the hassle to wait 6 hours to upgrade that day because I would need to restore her phone before upgrading.

Hey guys, just got back from the future. Sorry for the hold up, I had to get the fuel filter on the DeLorean replaced.

There will be 3 betas before 3.1 goes GM. It'll be released on August 4th.

No. No one knows. How could we possibly know?

Unless Apple announces it to the developers, any number people will give you is just a guess.

Usually released every 2 weeks. There was 5 for 3.0. (I think, including the GM right?).

So my guess is around 2 months from release of the first beta. Therefore a good prediction is between now and the end of August.

Vague I know. Could also be wrong. That's the point being made is that no one knows.

AFAIK, there has never been a developer beta release of a x.y update for the iPhone before the 3.1 beta. The only versions that have had betas are 2.0, 3.0 and 3.1. Since 3.1 is a beta for a minor release and not a major x.0 release, I imagine that we won't see an equally lengthy beta period. But of course only Apple has any idea of what their target dates are.

i don't think that's true

I don't think you can compare the time it took for 3.0 with 3.1.

There were A LOT of things added in 3.0. There isn't THAT much change with a X.anything.

That's just how I look at it. It would make more sence to see how long it took other betes other then major number changes.
