When do you all think Panther will be dropped (in security updates)? I think it will be dropped perhaps even late this month.. IMO

I really don't see any reason for more security updates for Panther. After I downloaded 10.3.9, I did not update after that. I guess I am a little jumpy after downloading an update to iTunes that wiped out my hard drive. The irony of it is that I never use iTunes.

How does your Mini run with only 512MB?

idk, all my friend works in a microbiology lab and all their computers run panther for all their software. they are going to be forced to upgrade stuff then...

I was happy with panther. I liked it. I only got tiger about a year ago because

I was finding that some of the apps I wanted were tiger only... so I had to buy it.

I'll do the same thing with leopard... I will not buy it unless I absolutely am forced to.

Yes, me too, Leopard looks like it'll bog down my mini any way with it's measly 512mb ram, and since I do not have the money for Leopard or 2gb ram now, I'm deciding to wait until at least fall 2008..

Well, we all know that, but when? rofl

10.2 was dropped shortly before 10.4 IIRC..

At that point, Panther will instantly stop functioning (wink, wink)
I suspect QuickTime and iTunes (excluding new iPods) will continue to support Panther until at least 2008, though I could easily see a QuickTime 8/iTunes 8 dropping Panther soon..
