I did some research over internet and found out that the sound quality from the dock out (USB connector at the bottom of the phone) provides much better audio out. The docks manufactured from Sony and Onkyo for their home theatres are some of the examples. Do any people know any such dock cable that connects to the phone's dock connector and outputs a better sound than the 3.5 mm headphone out. I would like to connect my iphone to my home theatre. I am interested only in audio not video - Apple component cable is for both and it's a bit costly. Please advice. Thanks!

get the iphone dock (not universal) it has audio out that is line level passed through from the dock connector.

then you most likely just need a 3.5mm to stereo cable to attach it to your stereo/amp.
