Hello everybody,

I just bought the elgato video capture pack to capture all my VHS, but i don't really like the quality and the fact that the file is compressed, so i'm searching for an alternative that can provide the best quality possible with uncompressed files to edit them in imovie after the capture.

Is there something better or is it the place to go ?

Thanks a lot

The Canopus ADVC 110 is a really good product that captures to the DV format. Requires Firewire though.

Actually, I have the ADVC 100 but they don't sell it anymore. I'm sure you could find it on eBay for really cheap. Again, requires Firewire.

Thank you for your answer, is there something better than the ADVC 110 or do you think I can toss my VHS after the process ? Because the ADVC 110 is available since 2005, perhaps we can find better now ?

You won't find anything better. At least not for that price.
Most of these converters are taken from the market as the chipset is not in production anymore, so you better get yours now.
