Better buy 2meg Ram and upgrade myself?

I hope to soon purchase a MBP and I was thinking it is probably smarter to purchase it with 2meg RAM and install an additional 2 at a cheaper price? Please no MAC purist comments that I will have some "hybrid-mut." The product is mass produced in Asia!
