better digital to audio converter for powerbook?

I have a pretty nice av system that I enjoy plugging in my powerbook and listening to itunes off it but I was curious if there was some way that i could convert the digital signal to analog better then the little mini jack. It's not too shabby but I am interested in a way to do it so that it sounds better.

what do you guys think? I imagine it would be usb kind of like a sub woofer but just the amplifier

There are quite a few options for external soundcards and DACs. I know that m-audio has quite a few. Maybe you should take a look at their site.

For what it sounds like you are doing, you best option may simply be the Airport Express. It is relatively cheap, and I have heard that it has great sound when hooked up to larger audio systems. Plus no wires! Bonus.
