Better DVD Player for Tiger

I have tiger and I've been watching DVD's on this lousy dvd player that comes installed with Tiger for years now.
My computer science professor, who also uses tiger (on an older machine than mine), has a much better DVD player that he uses for class.
His has a tracking bar (which the dvd player i have does not) and a lot of other things I'd like.
So how do you get a better DVD player for Tiger?

Ask him what he uses ...

Otherwise, VLC will play DVDs, as will a number of other media players.
