It’s been a few years since I last purchased a phone. I’m wondering if it would be better/easier/faster through Apple or Verizon/carrier. They both presale Friday at 5am pacific.

If you don't plan on leaving Verizon and don't plan to upgrade again for another few years, check for carrier deals through Verizon.
They offer the carrier deals when buying from Apple. I’m definitely doing the carrier deal (free phone w/14 Pro trade-in). I just don’t know which purchasing option is “best”. Maybe it doesn’t even matter. Idk. I would tend to think direct from carrier might be easier/faster as Apple’s site used to jam up on preorder days, but that was three years ago for me.

Same question but with T-Mobile.

Apple offers carrier deals, as seen in the Apple Store app when you pre pre order.

However, come Friday morning, will the Apple store app OR the carriers’ apps / sites be easier / smoother.

I haven’t done this in years either. Last few I have just gone in person.

Ah, you're right. Can't go wrong either way then. It's probably easier to order through Apple, but shipping dates tend to start slipping quicker than they do through carriers. Could have both pulled up ready to go. If Apple is getting hammered or shipping dates are slipping then do it through the carrier, or vice versa.
