I'm enjoying Windows 10 on my late 2013 Macbook Pro, but the trackpad control definitely feels very different to under macOS.

Is there a better trackpad driver than the default one? I did try Trackpad ++, but that seemed to be a total mess, and didn't help any (and installed a whole load of bloatware as well).

Recent Trackpad++ build 3.6 is the minimal package which doesn't require or install any third-party software. There used to be a dependency on PPA tool, but now it's gone.
Furthermore, now the Trackpad++ driver component is Microsoft-cross-signed.
And according to user feedback the gestures for 2/3/4 fingers are more responsive than ever.
So perhaps you could give the version 3.6 one final try before throwing it away forever: http://forbootcamp.org/Trackpad_Plus_Plus_Driver_Control_Module_Setup_Ver_36_12202018.exe
Also, just in case, here is the link to the main Trackpad++ thread here at MacRumors: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/trackpad-alternate-trackpad-driver-for-bootcamp.1497761/page-25
